Pediatric Chiropractic

Children, like adults, can suffer traumas or microtraumas that can lead to neck and back pain, headaches and joint sprains and strains. These traumas can cause imbalanced posture, muscle strain and joint restrictions. Fortunately, children and infants can also benefit from chiropractic care!

Chiropractors are trained to perform wellness assessments and examinations on infants and children in order to determine if there is a problem with their nerves, muscles or joints. Some common symptoms of pediatric strains and sprains include:

  • holding head to one side
  • plagiocephaly/flattened head
  • colic or frequent crying
  • bedwetting
  • constipation
  • discomfort lying infant on his/her back to sleep
  • not reaching developmental milestones (ie delayed crawling, standing or walking)
  • poor breastfeeding latch
  • limping
  • scoliosis
  • favouring an arm, wrist or hand
  • abnormal walking stride
  • complaining of neck, back or joint pain
  • headaches
  • ear pain
  • sports injuries

Chiropractors can safely treat pediatric injuries with gentle, low force techniques and soft tissue release. Fortunately, children are often very quick to respond to treatment and improve within just a few treatments.

Dr. Meagan Lynch has a special interest in treating children and has furthered her education with additional pediatric courses. As a mother of four active children, she has seen many bumps and bruises and takes great care in caring for your child.

Family Medicine

Family Practice specifically refers to Naturopathic Doctors who treat infants, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly alike. Family Practice Doctors not only manage year to year medical records for individuals, performing routine checkups and keeping track of any emerging issues, but often assist their clients through mild medical emergencies, such as strep throat or inflamed joints. Our Naturopathic doctors aim to educate patients to identify and treat such common ailments. In this way, Family Practice Doctors are responsible for a wide array of knowledge, since they are expected to treat people of all ages, both genders, and with any variety of typical injuries or illnesses. The Naturopaths at the Stouffville Natural Health Clinic are trained and qualified to treat your entire family using the most natural approaches possible, to help your family attain and maintain optimal health. For us, the goal of naturopathic medicine is to facilitate a journey of lifelong health by nurturing and supporting the innate self-healing mechanisms of children and adults alike!

Vaccination Counseling

Parents today have many questions regarding common childhood vaccines. Our Doctors offer vaccination counseling and believe in parent/patient choice and informed consent. Our Doctors will help guide you to reliable vaccine resources, discuss with you the risks of individual diseases, review the ingredients of each vaccine, educate you on known reported vaccine related side effects, review the current recommended immunization schedule and offer a treatment plan to support your child’s health pre and post immunization.
