Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. Brandy Pridham has been Stouffville's leading Naturopathic Doctor for 9 years. Dr. Pridham earned an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science Degree from the University of Guelph, with a major in Clinical Nutrition. It was here that she realized the significant impact food and lifestyle could have on health and the treatment of disease. She had always wanted to study medicine, and Naturopathic Medicine was a perfect fit for her concept of health and healthcare. She received her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine status after 4 years of studies at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto.

Through her studies she has had multiple internships including Homewood in Guelph; one of the Country's leading institutes for eating disorders as well as the Sherbourne Clinic for People with AIDS and the Lakeshore Area Multidisciplinary Project, a facility aimed at providing an array of services for a community in need. She is currently a member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors as well as the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors.

Dr. Pridham's focus is on treating the root cause of her patients' health concerns. She utilizes the latest standards in diagnostic examination and laboratory testing to identify the physiological imbalances that contribute to the presenting symptoms. She empowers and educates her patients on natural and effective ways that they can achieve optimal health. Recognizing that each individual is unique, Dr. Pridham creates personalized treatment programs and works closely with you to support and enhance your whole being.

Dr. Pridham's clinical area of emphasis pertains to Women's Health Issues and Pediatric Medicine. She is also licensed to perform IV therapy, which she utilizes in treating those with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Parkinson's and digestive disorders such as Celiac, Crohns and Colitis.

Naturopathic Services

What is Naturopath?

Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct primary health care system that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. Focusing on prevention and using natural treatments, the Stouffville Natural Health Clinic Naturopathic Doctors stimulate and support the body's ability to heal itself. The primary goal of Naturopathic Medicine is to address the cause of disease, rather than simply treat or suppress symptoms.

Treating both acute and chronic conditions, Naturopathic Doctors choose treatments based on the individual patient - their physiological, structural, psychological, social, environment and lifestyle factors all taken into account. A specific combination of therapies is provided for each individual, based on their vitality, stage of the disease and personal circumstances. Anyone can benefit from naturopathic medicine, whether you have multiple chronic healthcare conditions or are looking to optimize your wellness and maintain general health and longevity.

What to expect during your first visit?

Your initial Naturopathic Consultation is one hour to allow for comprehensive information gathering, while follow-up visits will be around 30 minutes in length depending on the treatment necessary. Typically during the initial visit, your naturopathic doctor will take a detailed history of your current and past health concerns, conduct a physical exam if indicated, and use information from laboratory tests (Bloodscan Analysis) to make an assessment and diagnosis. With the patient's input, a personalized treatment plan will be proposed to help facilitate achieving their health goals.

After each visit, your Naturopathic Doctor will thoroughly review and investigate the case presented and perform necessary research to plan the best treatment for the client. In every case, finding the root cause of the problem is the ultimate priority.

NDs are primary healthcare practitioners, and can treat the same conditions as a family doctor, including acute concerns and chronic health conditions. In the event that an ND is unable to treat your condition, he or she will consult or refer appropriately.
